That view looks familiar. I believe it's been published. Perhaps not the exact photo, but the angle.

Notice the perfect shadow from the roof overhang, protecting the windows from the sun.

What is it about Kodachrome? Luscious colors...

"Kodachrome gives us those nice bright colors, gives us the greens of summer on a sunny day oh yeah" Sorry had the feeling of quoting a Paul Simon song there. I remember instant cameras,it just is a time where I love photographs the digital age well makes it crisper but I love the vintage look of the past.

I believe Roderick is referring to a photo I had posted of the interior of this building. I deleted the post as I realize my interior photo is available just by going to Google.

This Alan Weintraub photo shows the sun at a different angle, perhaps. This is the bedroom side of the plan.

Are these views that will be preserved as the high rise condo will be built on the other side?

Hmm. Maybe the effect will be something like a way-out-west Guggenheim -- the "Tower Behind the Spiral" ?

the view of the house with the imposing mountain in the background no longer exists. mature trees and housing on all sides have squeezed out this tranquil "pastoral" view. However, inside the house, due to its height, you still get nice, but not great views, of Camelback Mountain.

Rood - would you agree ?

I suppose I'm one of those who prefer, in so many cases, an architect's drawings vis-a-vis the resulting construction. In the case of an architect so truly an artist, this is even more the case. Surely it is the original intent -- unsullied by second thoughts, indifferent craft, and incomplete landscaping -- which deserves the highest praise ?

(Speaking of indifferent craft, these second-rate photos date from the time when I was not yet scanning images successfully. My apologies.)

After reading this latest article, especially the comments from one of the new owners, it appears that the concerns we expressed here earlier are indeed still well founded. I still smell something fishy here, and the odor seems to be getting worse.

This is not over until the fat lady signs:

"However, it's not a given that the house can be preserved," Hoffman said, noting that the house has stood empty for several years and needs a lot of costly work to return it to its 1950s splendor. "We are not in the historic-preservation business. That's not our forte."
