Egads, if you do succeed in digitizing the photo slides, I can post them.
My previous HP all-in-one had a slide-scanning function, with a special holder in the lid. The lid had a built-in light source, I think -- I never used it. The lid was so heavy that one of its small plastic hinges eventually broke. I threw the machine in the trash -- it was rendered useless. Then (of course) I bought a different HP all-in-one . . . go figure.

Hey now, that's ewaste.
My current HP all in one has those parts. I even found the manual.
I imagine, for purposes of posting here, such a scan would be good enough.
I await to try, especially since I opened my mouth to begin with. |

Be sure to send me the results if they're successful.
I was so mad and disappointed -- I still blame Carly Fiorina ! HP has an all-but-fraudulent policy regarding online help; when you go there, there's no "there" there. But they sure know how to price those ink cartridges ! My current machine does most things correctly, but there's some very odd things going on with the operating system. From day one, the scanner bar acts like Art Carney shooting his cuffs repeatedly before getting down to work. Amusing and perplexing.

Here is the slide provided to me by BhamRuss:
Ocatillo corrected by gregory.dart, on Flickr
I will do the Friedman slides later and post them in Friedman thread (if I can find one) I just wanted to see how this worked right away.
Edit: BhamRuss provides the following information about this slide: It is from 1970-71. The individuals from foreground to background are Shizuo Hori, Robert Cooperider,Paul Wagoner and Jeffery Scott Will.
There really isn't a Friedman thread, just "most rustic" and "houses using desert masonry". I think I will just make a new Friedman thread.

The "Ocatilla" site still had in evidence in 1967 a profusion of remnants of the prototype San Marcos In The Desert blocks that had been made there in 1928 out of plaster of Paris and assembled into a mock-up model of FLlW's proposed construction for the resort project:

The above pictures were copied from 35 mm slides by means of the below-depicted technique that HP doesn’t want you to know about. (Please folks, do not try this at home except under appropriate adult supervision.)
Technical Specifications: Sony Digital Camera Cast Off by Daughter (The 3rd Such); ¼” x ¼” x 6” Redwood Stick,
Whittled One End for Insertion into Paper Clip; Rubber Band; Boston Clip No. 1
by Hunt Mfg. Co., Statesville, N.C.; “Precision Kraft” Spring Clip, Japan.
Front View
The tripod is irrelevant. Light source was the open sky, with camera pointed towards an area close to but so as not to include the shining sun.

| Egads: Glad you got the slide posted. Two things; Paul's last name is Wagner, and I think you've got the slide reversed. Thanks, Russ |

Fixed I hope. Do check out the Friedman thread and let me know if I have made the same mistake there.
sdr, I have your email. I can try to send them as attachments or you can provide me a mailing address to send a disk with the files on them through real email. I think my actual email is listed here. (I got emails from Wrightchatters today) |

I guess we have parallel threads going here. Hope someone will cross-link for us -- I'm already on cocktail time !
Maybe B B Pheiffer is the ultimate source for the correct orientation of the image he appears in ?

The image is not reversed. It was taken southwest of the Ocatilla site ... looking northeast. I should know. That's me in the middle. |

LOL Yeah, I noticed that, too. Fortunately I have a companion photo with both arms facing front, so evidently there wasn't an amputation along the way. The only real question: Who is on top of the hill? Apparently he wasn't with us, as none of us know who he is.

Is young Mr Pfeiffer really wearing Wrightian low heels -- or is that a shadow, somehow ?
