| What is going on with the Arch Oboler property in Malibu? I went by on Saturday and the prominent small viewhouse has been stripped off all its siding and interiors. It is just the basic wood frame and not much more. |

Over the past twenty years, Oboler has passed from one owner to another more times than I can count. Who owns it now I do not know, but I suspect it is a bank which at one time foreclosed. Eric Wright would be the logical person to ask about it. The last time I saw it, the entire place was in such a sad state it looked almost beyond hope, and things have not improved since.

I had been told that a gentleman from England owned the property and that he was not going to only refurbish the existing structure but was going to also construct the original Eaglefeather plans. Supposedly Eric Wright was coordinating such? IT is a travesty to see this property fall on hard time. IT has a spectacular view, great surroundings, but questionable stewardship.
I had the opportunity to speak with Arch Oboler before his death when he had some of the surrounding property for sale. Unfortunately, I was just out of college and cash-strapped. |

| There is obvioiusly something going on. The water feature is new. As I recall, not having been up there for years, the gate lodge and the stable were not connected by a roof over the gate, which they are now. If someone is actually restoring this poor place, yippee! |

Is the English owner Peter Palumbo? He has a good reputation as an owner / patron.
Eaglefeather is a favorite of mine among the unrealized projects, but I wonder how good a job anyone can do if the Taliesin establishment has significant control. |

a film location scout friend of time took me to visit the house about ten years ago. the site is magical, the little hilltop guest house had a wonderful view and a nice feeling about it. the main house was a mess, but there were moments of great architecture. it was somewhere between a hippie crash pad, a funky modernist lodge, and taliesin west.
the property is magnificent and it would be great if the brit would tackle the restoration. |

| Something doesn't seem right with all that use of steel compared to the orginal structure. |

Does anyone have (or have seen) a plot plan for Obler that is different than figure # 388 in Monographs vol 6? I'm having trouble locating the annotated perfs on the Mono plan elevation to the real perfs HOJO has provided. The Storrer plan resembles the Taliesin plan fairly closely but extends the Gatehouse/stables. I'm seeing more building than this plan indicates. In know it was in stages and incomplete, I keep studying but...
I'll send on the Mono image to SDR, perhaps he can present it. |

Palli, I'll be curious to see what your Mono grab looks like. The volumes are just too big, and the images often badly placed on the pages, for me to scan them effectively (at least, in the case of Eaglefeather, which I wanted to present yesterday). While I've done a lot of photographing, as an alternative, it results in a darker image (on line drawings) and some spherical aberration and/or lack of focus (those are problems associated with my macro-enlargement of small and very small images).
