Frank Lloyd Wright Brandes Home 1952

This Sammamish Washington “Usonian” house was built in 1952 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Washington Heritage Register. Situated on 3.2 natural woodland acres, the home is setback 300 feet from the road for exceptional privacy and security. By day, the home is flooded with natural light—by night, redwood cutouts that band the clerestory windows capture the interior light, and turn the whole into a glowing “jewel box.”

As is true of Wright’s designs, the home’s innovative use of natural materials was ahead of its time. So was the “hovering horizontal roofline” that spans the carport and connects the home to a separate 300 sq/ft, shop/office. This 1600sq/ft home comes fully furnished with Wright-designed custom-to-project redwood furniture. The home includes 3 bedrooms, living room, dining, den and kitchen. The exterior is redwood, concrete and glass. Floors are rose color concrete in 4’ grid with radiated heat; tinted horizontally raked mortar and concrete block walls. The landscape grounds include a, fire pit, picnic area, storage shed, lily pond and carport. The purchase price includes a copy of the original blueprint, historical documents, and letters written between Mr. Wright and the original owner, Mr. Ray Brandes.
